Note: Standalone deed transfers used to be handled by email with the Encore team. This is now done directly in the Encore app. This article outlines the current process.
This process is for existing plans only. If you're deeding a property as part of a new plan or restatement, see How to Request a Deed Transfer instead. That process is handled by email, not through the Deeds section described below.
The Standalone Deed Transfer Process at a Glance
You provide property details: address, owner, and transferee.
Encore pulls the official title, reviews the details, and prepares the transfer documents for signature. This usually takes about 5 business days.
Your client(s) signs the documents, then you upload the notarized copies to Encore through the Deeds section.
Encore files the documents and returns the completed deeds to you.
Getting started
Select "Deeds" on the left navigation menu.
Add a client, or select an existing client.
Add one or more properties. For non-primary residence addresses, you'll need to provide a mailing address for tax documents.
Check out and pay for the deed transfer or transfers. Prices vary by state. See current deed pricing here.
After you submit your request, wait about 5 business days. You'll get an email notification when the documents are ready to download for signature and notarization.
After your client notarizes the deed transfer documents, upload them back to the same page in the Deeds section of Encore and click "Mark Ready to File." Encore will take it from there.
You can use the client portal as a document repository if you'd like a copy stored there for your records, but Encore is not notified when documents are uploaded to the portal. Uploading a deed to the portal will not result in it being recorded. To ensure the deed is recorded, upload it through the Deeds section as described in step 6 above.
