Plan Path Similarities, Individual Capabilities, and Pro Tips

Basics

Both paths are the same, with the ONLY difference lying in who pays.

Client-Driven: Client can go all the way through to checkout and is required to pay.

Advisor-Driven: Advisor controls who pays for the estate plan.

Similarities

In either path, the advisor can do the following:

  1. Send Plan Details: This gives the clients View-Only access to their plan but does NOT allow editing by the client.

  2. Give Client Access: This gives the client the ability to view AND edit details within the plan.

    1. You will need to enter the client's basic information and then give them access to their plan, which you can do in either path.

  3. Add Note to Encore: This gives the advisor and client the ability to leave notes.

Client-Driven Path - Client Pays for the Plan

Clients can go all the way through the data entry portion and checkout on their own to pay without any advisor involvement. Clients cannot use plan credits that the advisor has purchased in advance.

An advisor cannot use plan credits when the plan is Client-Driven. You will need to switch the path type to see your plan credits. If you need to switch paths, read "Switching Between Client and Advisor-Driven Paths."

Advisor-Driven Path - Advisor Chooses Who Pays for the Plan

The client can click to confirm everything is correct after you send them the response summary. You will get an email email confirming they have done so.

At checkout, the advisor can choose one of the following options to pay:

  • Credit card on file (can be the client’s card or advisor's card).

  • Plan credits.

  • Add new card (to add any other credit card).

Pro Tips

  1. Plan Documents: The client does not have direct access to download their plan or upload ancillary documents. We believe the advisor should control the flow of information.
